The team of experts is headed by Dr. Fahim Hashmi (PhD Materials Science & Engineering) who has vast experience of Failure Analysis, Research & Development, Quality Management, Maintenance and Production Management in Aviation industry. He also specializes in structural integrity assessment of structures in aviation, automotive, nuclear and power generation sectors. He also teaches Failure Analysis, Fractography, Fracture Mechanics, Mechanical Behavior of Materials and other related subjects at UG and PG level.


Dr. Syed Wilayat Husain did his BS in Metallurgical Engineering from Dawood College, Karachi. He got his MS and PhD in Metallurgy from the University of Connecticut, USA. He has more than 30 years of experience in Alloy Development, Materials Characterization and Failure Analysis.  He has 50 plus international publications to his credit and has remained associated with projects of national importance. Presently he is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at IST.


Dr. Muhammad Zubair Khan has extensive practical experience of working on engineering projects and problems including Failure Analysis of Aerospace Materials. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IST.

Farooq Paracha is working as a Research Associate. He graduated in Aerospace Engineering from CAE, NUST, and has vast experience of conducting Defect Investigations of aviation components, Air Crash Accident Investigations, aircraft components overhauling and instructional trainings with Pakistan Air Force.     

Bilal Anjum Ahmed is currently pursuing his higher studies abroad. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from EME, NUST, and has specialized in Materials and Surface Engineering from SCME, NUST. His key areas of interest include internally and externally loaded pressure vessels, Laser Surface Modification, and welding procedure qualification for similar and dissimilar materials.


Ghulam Haider is working as a Research Associate and is a student of Masters in Structural Design and Engineering (Aero) at Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad. He graduated in Materials Science & Engineering from GIKI, and has specialized in Manufacturing. His research interests include NDT, Advanced Manufacturing Techniques and Layered Structures obtained by Weld Based Metal Deposition. 

Obaid ur Rauf is working as a Graduate Research Assistant and is a student of Masters in Materials Science & Engineering at Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad. He graduated in Materials Science & Engineering from IST, and has specialized in Metals & Alloys. His research interests include Failure Analysis of Aerospace Materials and Advanced Composite Materials for Aerospace Structures.
