Dr. Mirza Muhammad Naseer

HEC Approved PhD Supervisor 

Dr. Mirza Muhammad Naseer is an experienced Library and Information Science (LIS) professional. He did his masters in Library Science and PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of the Punjab, Lahore in 1991 and 2012 respectively. He also completed masters in Political Science from the same university in 1993.


Dr. Naseer has more than twenty four years professional experience in reputed national organizations such as Ministry of Defense (Government of Pakistan), Fauji Foundation / Foundation University, University of Management and Technology, and Institute of Space Technology. He started his professional career as a Librarian at Ministry of Defense, Government of Pakistan (October 1992 - January 1997) in Islamabad. He was appointed as Library Officer (BPS-18) in the same organization in January 1997. He also served as Librarian (2000-2006) at Fauji Foundation Institute of Management and Computer Sciences, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi (later on became part of Foundation University, Islamabad). He left Foundation University in 2006 to join research program of M. Phil. leading to PhD in Library and Information Science at Department of Library and Information Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore.

During his stay in Lahore for M. Phil course work (2006-2007), he served as Library Officer in University of Management and Technology. After successful completion of M. Phil. course work, he joined the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in 2007 as a Librarian. University of the Punjab awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Library and Information Science degree to him in November 2012 after international refereeing and a successful open defense. He was promoted as Senior Librarian in January 2013 and later on appointed as Assistant Professor in Library and Information Science (LIS) on Tenure Track System (TTS) in August 2013 at the IST.


He is "HEC Approved Supervisor" for PhD in "Library and Information Science" and author of a book and many research papers, published in national and international journals. He has attended many conferences, workshops, seminars etc. as a resource person and / or participant.
