Al Khwarizmi Scholarships for Foreign Students

Scholarships are available for Foreign Students to study in Bachelor/ Master/ Doctoral Degree Programs offered by IST.

Duration of Scholarship:
For BS (Bachelor’s) Students: Upto 04 years
For MS (Master’s) Students: Upto 2.5 years
For PhD (Doctoral) Students: Upto 04 years

The scholarship program covers funds for the following expenses:

  • University tuition fee as per actual
  • Stipend @ PKR 15000, 20000 & 35000 per month for students admitted in BS, MS & PhD programs respectively
  • Stipend @ PKR 50000 per month for scientist/ post doc fellow
  • One time return air ticket

Mandatory academic & non-academic charges like admission fee, endowment fund, library development fund, service charges, safe/ smart campus charges, hostel charges etc. are not covered.


Admission of Foreign Applicants in IST


Admission Pre-requisites

Candidates willing to apply for admission in BS, MS/ PhD programs offered by IST must:

  • meet the eligibility requirements (BS, MS, PhD) for respective program as mentioned on IST website
  • be able/ willing to pay the semester dues/ allied charges as per fee structure (BS, MS, PhD) given on IST website for foreign Students. All fees and other charges are subject to revision from time to time
  • be proficient in English as all educational and extracurricular activities such as "Class Lectures, Oral and Written Examinations, Quizzes, Assignments, Seminars, Conferences, Notifications etc" at Institute of Space Technology (IST) Islamabad take place in English Language
  • obtain equivalence certificate from IBCC/ HEC, Pakistan (keeping in view the eligibility requirements to apply for respective program) before the closing date of application to apply for admission in IST. In case any document proves to be false, fake, or fabricated at a later stage, a provisionally admitted student shall be liable to expulsion from the University at any stage or to any other disciplinary or legal action the University may deem necessary
  • obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Ministry of Foreign Affairs or their Embassy in Pakistan
  • prepare personal statement, in English, should include self-introduction, study and work experience, reasons for application and study plan/ research proposal
  • obtain two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, in English. (Professors’ signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter)
  • be willing to meet/ abide all requirements/ rules & regulations issued by the IST/ HEC/ Concerned Government Organizations/ Departments from time to time
  • possess adequate mental and physical health to continue his/ her course of studies

Procedure

  • Admissions will be announced by IST in national newspapers/ on IST website
  • Foreign applicants meeting the pre-requisites will be required to apply online at IST’s website www.ist.edu.pk
  • Foreign applicants will be required to complete online application form in all respects including the deposit/ online transfer of application processing fee before the last date to apply for admission in IST for further process
  • Merit of foreign applicants will be determined according the merit determination criteria mentioned on IST website
  • Merit lists of provisionally selected BS and MS candidates shall be displayed on IST website whereas, provisionally selected PhD candidates will be intimated through email
  • Provisionally selected BS, MS & PhD candidates will deposit admission dues as per details shared by IST to secure their seat
  • Cases of selected foreign applicants for provisional admission in IST will be referred to Higher Education Commission (HEC) and relevant Government department(s) along with their passport copy, photographs, admission letter, NoC of their Embassy/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Student’s Information Sheet for Issuance of No Objection Certificate (NoC)/ final approval as per the policy in vogue
  • Selected foreign applicants for provisional admission in IST will be required to approach the Pakistani mission abroad for the visa and submits the following documents:
    • Application Form (Student Visa Form)
    • Photocopy of Passport
    • Photograph
    • Educational Documents
    • Admission Letter of University
    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Home Country to Study in Pakistan
    • Any other document if required by Pakistan Embassy at respective country
  • Joining instructions will be issued to the provisionally selected foreign applicants after:
    • The completion of all admission requirements of IST
    • Receiving the intimation/ NOC from HEC/ Concerned Government Organizations
  • Successfully joined foreign applicants/ students will be required to meet/ abide all requirements/ rules & regulations issued by the IST/ HEC/ Concerned Government Organizations/ Departments from time to time
  • IST reserves the right to make amendments in the policy regarding the admission of foreign students at any time without notice/ cancel or refuse admission to any foreign applicant at any time/ stage without assigning any reason
