The IP Desk at IST serves as a dedicated resource for faculty, students, and startups, offering comprehensive support for Intellectual Property (IP) protection and management. We aim to foster innovation by safeguarding the intellectual assets of the IST community.
Our key services include:

  • IP Awareness and Consultation: Educating the IST community about the importance of IP and providing expert guidance on protecting innovations.
  • Patent, Copyright, and Trademark Filing: Assisting with the drafting, filing, and prosecution of IP applications in collaboration with relevant authorities.
  • IP Portfolio Management: Offering tailored strategies for managing and leveraging intellectual property assets.
  • Technology Assessment: Evaluating the commercial potential of research outputs to identify IP-worthy innovations.
  • Licensing Support: Facilitating agreements that enable the effective commercialization of IP-protected technologies.
    Our goal is to empower IST innovators by providing robust IP support, enabling them to maximize the impact of their creative and technological advancements.

    • Technology and Innovation Support Centers

    The Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) at IST, established in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, and the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan, serves as a comprehensive resource hub for intellectual property (IP) services. Our mission is to empower IST faculty, students, startups, and external organizations by providing access to high-quality technology information and support services.
    Our key services include:

    • Access to Patent and Non-Patent Resources: Providing access to online patent databases and scientific and technical resources to support research and innovation.
    • IP Consultation and Advisory: Offering expert guidance on national and international IP laws, assisting with patent drafting, filing, and prosecution, and advising on IP management strategies.
    • Technology Search and Retrieval Assistance: Helping innovators efficiently search and retrieve technological information to inform their research and development processes.
    • IP Commercialization Support: Advising on the IP aspects of commercialization, including licensing agreements and strategies to bring innovations to market.
    • Training and Capacity Building: Conducting workshops and seminars to enhance understanding of IP rights and their strategic use in innovation and entrepreneurship.
    Our goal is to foster an enabling environment that promotes the creation, protection, and management of intellectual property, thereby contributing to the innovation ecosystem within IST and the broader community.
