IST value’s that quality management system application at Institute is vital. Its application in educational processes is more difficult compared to manufacturing organization. The quality implementation process is even more difficult if the organization does not have any quality management system.
Institute of Space Technology (IST) started quality management system (QMS) in 2009 which is now been acknowledged internationally. IST achieved ISO 9001:2008 Certificate on January 12th, 2013 because of its application and contribution of quality management system in the scope:
“Provision of educational services in teaching & learning, which consist of Program Registration, Examination, monitoring of student performance, research & development, teaching evaluation, industrial training and graduation of: Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering”
Obtaining the award was not an easy matter. IST implements the system four stages, -preparation, document compilation, implementation and auditing, improvement and prevention, and finally the certification itself. The process began with the forming of project Plan, which is the plan on utilization strategy for institutional management.
ISO 9001:2008 Certificate is the ultimate recognition of global quality. It proved that IST is ready to face the era of globalization. The achievement has made IST aware that quality is the most important aspect of educational system, its application, maintenance, and continual improvement. It is important for every university to ´learn´ in order to improve the knowledge and ability of the students.
This certification speaks of our commitment to continual quality improvement (CQI) initiatives, leading to the provision of high quality and care for our valuable stakeholders (students, parents, employees, faculty, prospective industry, society, etc).
