Workshop on Surfaces, Coatings, Corrosion and Application

The workshop is focused towards Engineering of Surfaces and their Coatings which play an important role in proper functioning of materials and give rise to properties like corrosion and wear protection, hydrophobicity, catalysis, high temperature oxidation resistance, self-cleaning surfaces, radar cross section (RCS) reduction. The workshop covers a range of advanced surface and coating processes and characterization techniques utilized in automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics, biomedical, textile, petrochemical and other applications.


About the speakers:
  • Dr. Ibrahim Qazi is the Head of Materials Science and Engineering Department at Institute of Space Technology. He received his Ph.D. from Sheffield University, UK. He has extensive experience in processing and structure-property relationship in the field of ceramics.
  • Dr. Abdul Mateen received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from GIKI, Pakistan. He conducted his PhD research work at the University of Calgary, Canada. He has received grants for various R&D projects from different national and international organizations. His areas of interest include Surface Engineering and Tribology, Minerals Processing, Extractive Metallurgy and Nanostructured Materials. 
  • Dr. Abdul Wadood received his Ph.D. degree from Japan with two years postdoctoral work from Japan. His areas of expertise are corrosion and materials protection, biomaterials, titanium alloys; shape memory alloys, high temperature materials. He has received 10 million in research grants from HEC for his research project. He is the author of more than 20 Journal papers, one patent and five conference papers. 
  • Dr. Muhammad Yasir has done Ph.D. in MS&E from HUST Wuhan China. His area of expertise includes surface modifications, Bulk metallic glasses, Thermal Spray Coatings, Coatings for biomedical applications. He has recently secured funding from Pakistan Science Foundation and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNFSC) for project on highly corrosion resistant surface for magnesium alloys.
